Discover the Power of the First All-Electric Muscle Car Here!

The Dodge Charger has a fifty-plus-year run as a dominating force in the muscle car community. In 2023, the Charger Last Call lineup was announced, marking the beginning of the end of the legendary model’s most recent generation. However, this doesn’t symbolize the end of an era, it marks the beginning of a brand-new one! In 2024, an all-new generation of the Dodge Charger kicks off beginning with the Dodge Charger Daytona lineup, powered solely by electricity to deliver muscle car performance with zero emissions. The all-electric Dodge Charger lineup features a sleeker design, advanced technology, and a completely upgraded cabin. Continue reading below to learn more about just how powerful Dodge’s first-ever all-electric muscle car truly is!

How is the Dodge Charger EV Powered?

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona lineup, including the R/T and Scat Pack trim levels, introduces the first-ever all-electric muscle car. The two Charger Daytona trim levels offer different levels of power output and performance capabilities. However, both feature the same powertrain components. The 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack used to power the Charger Daytona offers 550 kilowatts, which is more power per gram than traditional EV batteries, giving drivers increased power for more excitement. This battery is used to power the electric drive modules (EDMs) found on both the front and rear axles. The location of these EDMs allows for instant torque distribution for lightning-fast responsiveness and all-wheel drive traction.

How Much Power Does the Charger Daytona Offer?

Dodge knew that in order to implement electric power while still providing all the excitement of the outgoing HEMI engines, they’d have to make the EVs powerful. This goal was achieved with the powertrain mentioned above! As we mentioned earlier, the all-electric Charger lineup includes the R/T and Scat Pack trim levels, offering different power outputs. By themselves, the front and rear EDMs on these models combine for a total of 335 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. However, the R/T trim comes standard with a Dodge Direct Connection Stage 1 kit, which bumps the power output all the way up to 496 horsepower. Meanwhile, the Stage 2 kit from Direct Connection is featured on the Scat Pack trim, achieving the Charger Daytona’s maximum power output of 670 horsepower! In the Scat Pack, this power allows drivers to achieve a 3.3-second 0-60 time and an 11.5-second quarter-mile run time, thanks to the aforementioned instantaneous torque that the electric power provides. This is one of the primary advantages of using electric power in a muscle car. Whereas gas-powered vehicles must build engine RPMs before reaching their maximum torque output.

2024 Dodge Charger Performance-Enhancing Features

If there’s one thing Dodge knows, it’s that to unlock a car’s true potential, it cannot rely on its powertrain alone. This is why the 2024 Charger Daytona lineup offers an array of performance-enhancing features. The first and most notable feature is PowerShot. This delivers a fifteen-second burst of an additional 40 horsepower and can be used at launch or while driving. The Charger Daytona lineup also comes equipped with the largest tires in the Dodge lineup, featuring Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires with staggered fitment. This means that the front tires are larger than the rear ones. The front tires span 305 millimeters across, while the rears are widened by 20 millimeters. This not only provides race-inspired performance it also gives the Charger a menacing stance. The Charger Daytona lineup also features drive modes, including Auto, Eco, Wet/Snow, Track, and Drag. These automatically make adjustments to systems such as throttle control, steering/handling, transmission shift points, power output, and more to provide the best possible control for the selected mode.
