2025 Ram 1500 Engine Lineup

Since 2011, Ram has relied on the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine to set the tone for the engine lineup. The Pentastar engine gives the 2025 Ram 1500 an impressive 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This power translates into an 8,100-pound towing capacity when the truck is equipped with Ram’s Trailer Tow Package along with a payload capacity of 2,300 pounds. The Pentastar engine stands out in the crowd of entry-level engines because of Ram’s eTorque mild-hybrid technology. By replacing the traditional alternator with a 48-volt electric generator, the engine achieves seamless Engine Stop/Start function while idling. While providing more power, the Hurricane engine runs more efficiently by using two turbochargers instead of eight cylinders, using less fuel. While technically its own model in Ram’s lineup, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is everything we love about the Ram 1500 with Ram’s first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. The all-new Ram 1500 Ramcharger features the aforementioned Pentastar engine with a 130-kilowatt onboard generator. It also uses an electric drive module on both the front and rear axles to provide it with all-wheel drive traction. These electric motors are powered by a 92-kilowatt rechargeable battery pack. The V6 engine’s mechanical power is sent to the generator, which converts it into electricity, powering the battery pack which then sends it to the wheels. While this may sound like a lengthy process, electrons are constantly flowing with the EV system, so torque is provided to the wheels instantly. The Ramcharger offers selectable drive modes to maximize either power output and performance or fuel efficiency and range. Speaking of which, this setup provides the Ramcharger with an impressive 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque along with up to 690 miles of total driving range. This power translates into a 14,000-pound towing capacity, 2,652-pound payload capacity, and 4.4-second 0-60 time. The power output, towing capacity, and maximum range are all class-leading specifications.
